on Roy Williams: Lions WR Roy Williams hopes to
return from his knee injury for the Lions' regular-season finale
at Green Bay. Williams suffered a sprained right posterior
cruciate ligament Sunday at Minnesota. HC Marinelli said Monday
that Williams would miss several weeks and that could mean he
would miss the rest of the season. Williams said today he had not
been told anything about going - or not going - on injured
reserve, which would end his season. "They usually say three to
five weeks with a PCL," Williams said, "so if I'm not on IR, I'm
shooting for Green Bay." Williams said his knee felt better this
morning. "I actually put my pants on today," Williams said. "So
it's improving."

: Lions HC Marinelli said Monday that wide
receiver Roy Williams could be out for the rest of the season with
a knee injury, but Williams was a little more optimistic.
Marinelli said Williams, who suffered a sprained right posterior
cruciate ligament in Sunday's 42-10 loss at Minnesota, will miss
several weeks. Williams said he was told he will miss a couple of
weeks. Asked whether Williams is out for the rest of the season,
Marinelli said: "I don't know how many weeks it is. It's going to
be several. So he could be gone for the year." Marinelli said the
injury was very similar to the one suffered by CB Stanley Wilson
on Thanksgiving Day against Green Bay. Wilson was put on injured
reserve, ending his season. But asked whether it sounded like he
is done for the season, Williams said: "I don't know. They say a
couple of weeks. We'll see how that goes."

: Roy Williams suffered a sprained right knee against the
Minnesota Vikings and head coach Rod Marinelli said he could miss
"several'' weeks. It's possible that Williams, who sprained his
PCL, could miss the rest of the regular season. Mike Furrey would
likely start in Williams' place, but Marinelli would not confirm
that.

: Roy Williams tried to make a comeback, but just
couldn't do it and now the Lions are waiting to see when
they'll get their veteran receiver back in the lineup.
Williams suffered a sprained right knee after catching a
43-yard pass to set up Detroit's only touchdown in the
Lions' 42-10 loss to the Vikings on Sunday. After missing
the next series, Williams came back for the following
series, but the knee wouldn't hold up. "We're going to have
to see how he is,'' said Lions HC Marinelli, who couldn't
offer any other specifics. Williams was not available for
comment. Williams had 5 catches for 85 yards before he left
the game and the Lions didn't score after he departed. If
Williams can't play against the Cowboys next week, Mike
Furrey (who had seven catches for 57 yards replacing
Williams on Sunday) likely would start in his place.
