The Clay Training Tower was established in September of 2000. It was a joint effort of the Clay Fire Department, the North Syracuse Fire Department, the Moyers Corners Fire Department, funding from the Town of Clay and funding from New York State. Land for the tower was originally owned and is donated for the tower use by the Clay Fire Department. All the Fire Departments within or contracting to the Town of Clay are members in the tower use and operations.

The Clay Fire Tower Committee consists of the Brewerton Fire Department, the Clay Fire Department, the Caughdenoy Fire Department, the North Syracuse Fire Department and the Moyers Corners Fire Department and most recently Take The Door Training. The working relationship between these departments has resulted in a Combined Rookie Training Program.

The facility itself has hosted the New York State Chief’s Live Hands on Program for Thermal Imagining, and numerous New York State OFPC courses.

It is the intent of the Tower Committee to provide a facility for the best possible training for the Firefighters within the Town of Clay and the surrounding community. This training conducted in both a safely and professional manner in accordance with NFPA standards.
